I’ve always enjoyed photography … shooting and viewing. For me, being able to capture not only the look of something, but the emotion the image evokes, is my holy grail.
My hope and goal is that the viewer will experience a connection with what they see. Whether it’s a feeling of solitude as they gaze upon a vast field of grass, or a night sky blanketed with stars; a past remembrance of an old abandoned farm, or the remnants of a church, once stark and pristine; if I can help the viewer achieve some measure of emotion, then I have served my purpose.
I’ve been behind a camera for over 40 years. Even though I’ve had other careers on and off, photography is my first love. Against my father’s advice, I attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, where I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Photographic Arts and Sciences (he suggested a degree in business). Upon reflection, I realize I made the right choice, since business management came naturally to me. I was then free to focus on my first love.
I spent the first 50 years of my life in and around Washington, DC and moved to San Antonio in 2003. The history and beauty of the Alamo city and the rugged charm of the Texas Hill Country has brought new inspiration to my art.
